OMG a blog. It's really not exciting though... Recipes.

Michelle has been bugging me to post recipes on the stuff Ryan and I make for dinner, and i tried to do it on the family cooking blog, but I totally don't know how to do it, or maybe I don't have access. Either way...
Ryan and I have been on a health kick lately. So we've been making High Protien/Low Carb/ Low Calorie food. I told Michelle I'd post the recipes of the stuff that was actually good. And, I totally fail, I have no pictures, but I'll start taking some, for the cause. Lol.

So, Recipe 1-Cottage Cheese Asparagus Bake

Ingredients

    Asparagus, fresh, 1 pound, sliced
    1 medium onion, chopped
Egg substitute, liquid (Egg Beaters), 2 cups
    Egg, fresh, 2 large
    Flour, 1/2 cup
    Baking Powder, 1 tsp
    Cottage Cheese, Nonfat, 16 oz
Kraft Free Shredded Cheddar Cheese, 1/2 cup
    Butter, 3 tbsp melted
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp ground black pepper
    Parmesan Cheese, 1/2 oz

Directions

Saute asparagus and onion in non-stick pan. Cool.
(Asparagus can be roasted in oven: cover cookie sheet with foil, spray with cooking spray, spread asparagus spears on foil, spray again, add a little black pepper on top, bake at 400 for 12 minutes. Cool and slice cooked asparagus.)
Beat egg substitute and eggs together, add flour and baking powder to egg mixture; whisk until lumps are gone. Stir in all other ingredients, except parmesan cheese. Put mixture into greased or sprayed 9 x 13 dish. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes, turn oven down to 325, bake additional 35 to 45 minutes until light golden brown on top. Cut into 10 servings.

Number of Servings: 10

That's the recipe we followed. Except we didn't use an onion because Ryan doesn't like them, and we just used all eggs instead of the egg substitute because we didn't have any. But it's yummy. :) We also added extra cheese.. Lol. No surprise.

Recipe Number 2- Stuffed Zucchini

Ingredients

  • 2 zucchini cut in half and hollowed out
  • Mushroom stems reserved from Portobello Burgers recipe, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped green olives with pimentos
  • 1/3 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella, divided

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Slice the zucchini lengthwise, scoop out the seeds from the center and put on a baking sheet.

In a medium bowl combine the remaining ingredients expect for 2 tablespoons of the cheese. Fill the centers of each zucchini half with the mixture. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top of the filling.

Bake until the cheese is melted and the filling is golden brown and toasted, about 15 to 20 minutes.

Ok, so with this recipe, I didn't really follow it at all. So, I more-so stole the idea.

In ours, I hollowed out both Zucchini and Squash, and instead of throwing away the middle portion, I just mixed it in with the egg. I then added probably 2 cups of cottage cheese in with the eggs mixture. Then I added Cheddar cheese because we had no Mozzarella. I put the mixture inside the hollowed out squash and the zucchini, and put some cut tomatoes on the tops of them, as well as some parmesean sprinkled on the top. And on Ryan's side we put olives on top. *Yuck* lol.

We had no mushrooms, however those would be really good in this recipe. Anyway, I really liked the way they turned out. Filling, Good for you, and something you can totally mess around with the recipe with. And its pretty quick to make.

Next time we make something good, I'll snap a picture. ;) And perhaps by then someone can tell me how to post on the Food Blog.

Anyway, that's all for now.

5 months later!!!

The one below, my friend Chad did the hair, and he is AMAZING at hair. :)

I'm considering going back to school in the fall so that I can have a business degree behind me to assist in wherever my life takes me. In a few years I plan to open my own Salon, and who knows what'll happen from there, I'm open.

I still want a puppy!!!!

I've been dating this guy Brock, from Arizona. He's coming up here tommorow, to go through the great life foundation. As well as my friend Kim, I'm super excited. I like it when people take on their lives and the challenges in their lives. I'll be sure to post pictures of their graduations and such.

Sooo, seeing as my veins are too small to donate plasma to get me that 65 a week, I've now learned, I can donate my body other ways, I'm on a list to do a "healthy volunteer" study, companies pay you like lots of money to test out random drugs.. Haha, so the next time they have something to test I may be a tester. . The things broke people will do to pay the bills. Pshhh..

Well, a lot of that is just boring re-cappage, but hey, maybe sometime soon i'll have something exciting to post about. :D

Peace and Love!

I'm going to lose a finger!!!!

So, after a crazy 3 day weekend, I wake up this morning with my finger the size of a melon! I've been wearing this ring all week, but for some reason this morning.. .. My finger blew up!!! Let me show you.

(Sara inserts picture.)

And then.. While I'm being a drama queen, I frantically call my sister Michelle who is a nurse, and she doesn't answer. So I skip to Plan B. I call my father, he tells me to go to a jeweler. So, I look up a Jeweler in Studio city. And when I get there, there is a sign on the door. CLOSED ON MONDAY.

ARE you KIDDING me? Who closes on Monday? My finger will fall off. . . And as I hop back in my car, my girlfriends and I remember that my GPS is back at the apartment. And getting lost in Los Angeles trying to save my finger doesn't sound like a good plan... SOOOOo.. We go back, find my GPS, and hit up a mall. After about an hour of torture, the jeweler gets it off my finger. I was too embarrased of the swelling to take a picture right after, but I took one about half hour later... Haha. Here is the final result. THANKYOU MALL JEWELER! :) THE ONE BY SEARS IN BURBANK. :) Ha.

But now we have to back up.. to where I woke up this morning... This morning... I woke up, in a 4-man tent, in the living room, of my apartment!! haha. Me and Anna and Amanda had this great idea to get out of L.A. for the 3 day weekend, so we planned this camping trip. . . So Sunday Afternoon.. We get up and drive to Big Tujunga Mountain. We had planned to camp at this campsite called Rancho Ybarro. So we arive at Rancho Ybarro, and it's this crazy Christian camp, with dorms, and tennis courts, and a whole bunch of people staring at us like we don't belong.

So here I am, the genius me. Being from the good ol mountains of Utah, "Oh, lets just go up the mountain a little bit, surely there is another campsite". . And after about an hour of windy road, picnic tables, day camps, an army bootcamp, and camping trails. We find nothing. The closest thing we found was a campsite you have to LITERALLY hike to. You have to hike up the mountain two miles to a campsite. WTF where am I? Haha, so we give up, and it's like 3 o clock so we didn't want to keep driving, So.. we went back to Glendale and pitched a tent in my living room. Where we proceeded to cook Hot Dogs. :) And by the way.. Hot dogs in and of themselves is a story. PEOPLE HERE THINK ITS NOT NORMAL TO ROAST A HOT DOG OVER A FIRE. I told them that's what normal people do when they camp. . But nooooooooooo.. apparently IM the crazy one. And then we Roasted Marshmellows over a CANDLE.. Yes, A candles. YES. We did, and YES it worked. And then we watched 13 ghosts, and told scary stories. :) haha.

Good weekend! :)

Everything is crazy here. Friday Night I decided that I could not handle IN-N-OUT, BURGER KING, and CARLS JR, any freaking more. So I decided we would drive the 25 minutes to get me to normal WENDYS! Oh, how I miss WENDYS.. Well, as we got closer to WENDYS, there are all these cops all over. Search light helicopters in the sky. And Cops just everywhere. Which is semi-normal in L.A. but this was a little overboard.. And finally. When I'm almost there, one more turn and I'm at WENDYS, surely I find... A PROTEST! I found the Proposition 8 protesters who have been there all week!!! Hundreds of thousands of people.. Which I mean is cool.. It's sad Prop 8 passed, but all I wanted was WENDYS!! haha. And surely they couldn't open a WENDYS with the streets like that! Too bad I didn't have my camera.

RAIN!

So, it rained for the first time here last week, and I was the HAPPIEST person ever. I made Anna run around in it with me.. WE GOT SOAKED!!!

And yes, this picture is awful, but you must see!!!

Haha, and here is a picture of me on Halloween, I was Marilyn Monroe. We walked up and down Santa Monica Blvd. There was hundreds of thousands of people, and it was crazy. I didn't have my camera though, so these are crappy pictures from my phone! :( Sad. But it was fun, people kept wanting pictures with me!

I decided I want to buy a Yorkie, so if you see a cheap one, let me know! I decided I get to have a yorkie!!! :) eee!

And then last but not least, I'll post some MakeUp pictures for you. Just random Makeup. I need to start bringing my camera to school more!! This is a peacock inspired Make-Up I had to do, and then there is like a candy cane makeup application I did on Jasmine, she did mine...

Anyway, I blogged entirely too much for today. Miss and Love you all!

Halloween! :)

This is Amanda, and this was my professional Make-Up final. I took this picture with my camera on my phone, so you can't see the detail.. but it was really good. The object was to make her look glamorous. :)

And this is a demonstration of Highlight/Contour. It is a make-up artists secret. basically, the spots that are lightened are where you should lighten your face, and the spots that are dark are where you should darken your face. :) This is an overexaggerated version, but you get the point.

This is Madison, our assignment for this was to listen to our client, and do something that would make them feel their best. So in conjuction to listening to her, and doing my own thing, this is what we ended up with. Kinda cool. IDK.

This is Anna, I took this picture with my camera phone too, so you can't really see the make-up. It was pretty though. This was for our hair final. Our assignment was to do the make-up and hair of someone in our class. This is what she ended up with. :) It was beautiful, I got an A, and I was proud. :) haha.

As for me, not too much is new, I am just extremely focused in school. We start our photoshoots for our portfolios the day before Thanksgiving break, and I want to be prepared. Money is tight, so I'm excited to get back home, and be able to actually be able to make some money instead of just spending it. . .
I got a card from my family, it was super cute! Thanks guys! I miss and love you all! :)
Umm.. I don't know, not too much else to say, I'm excited for Halloween!! :) More pictures to come! :)

Make-Up. :)

I eat, drink, and sleep Make-Up. I literally go to bed and dream about putting Make-Up on other people!! Then I wake up and do it all over again. It's so crazy. I still don't have a job yet, but, a lady I am going to school with is going to recommend me for a position at her work. :) Yay. It's really hard being broke.
These pictures are some Make-Up I did the second week of class. You can't really see the details but it was some pretty cool Make-Up. :) I'm excited to get my portfolio and stuff! :) It's so much fun, and I can't wait to get out there!!!!
We went out to Venice Beach last weekend.. That was crazy. There was a bum, sitting in a trash can holding a sign saying "I'm not going to lie, I need money for weed." There was also a lot of Rap Artists trying to get us to buy their music. People in thongs, ya know.. typical Californians. I also saw a sign saying "I kissed a girl and I liked it, and then I went to hell." That was in front of a church. Lol!!!
I've been pretty busy, but I've been having a lot of fun. I really miss my family and friends though!!! I think i'm going to take some pictures for one of those tagged things and then post another blog, so for now.. Have a good day!!! :) Love.!

First two weeks in LA.

I finally know where north is!!! :) It feels like it should be west, but if I remember that the way that feels west is north I'm golden!! Haha.
Kasey and I did a lot of exploring. We went to China town (above), which wasn't all that great. We went to Rodeo drive, (which is where all the stars shop and stuff), and we went to Beverly Hills. We went to Fashion City, which is just stores and stores for miles.. There is soo much shopping here it is insane. We have also been all up and down Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard. The most famous person I have seen is Dolly Parton. She was at a Dolly Parton art show on Hollywood Boulevard.

I have been trying, really hard with no luck to find a job. Everything has a specific time, usually Monday or Tuesday between two to four when they accept applications. Which is dumb. So it's hard to like be there at the right time. And it's only going to be harder once I start school Monday.
However, I am super excited to start school. I feel like a bum just sight seeing and stuff. I don't know how people can not work or have jobs.. I am going uber stir crazy. I still don't have my camera, but when I get it I will take pictures of the apartment and such, and answer that tagged thing that Stephanie sent me. :) But yeah, that's about all I can think of at the moment..

Moving In!!!

Hi all.
So I just barely got all my stuff moved in, and finished helping Kasey move her stuff in too. I don't have a bed yet, because my bed doesn't get delivered until tommorow. WTF? ha. That's okay I can sleep on the floor. The drive here wasn't too bad. We stopped in Vegas and stayed on the freaking 60th floor of Mandalay Bay in a penthouse suite. It was so high up. It was like stratosphere high status.
I don't have a lot of time because I have got to get ready to go out tonight. Today is Kasey's birthday and we are going to have a blast!!! :) Her parents are here with us still, we are thinking about going out on Sunset Boulevard (in like downtown Hollywood) and going to dinner. She is vegetarian, but apparently over the weekend some of her girlfriends convinced her to try sushi for the first time in her life and she liked it, so yayyyy. Sushi buddy. :) Anyway. I'll add pictures and write more later.
Love and miss ya'll.
:)
